BUS INSPECTIONS IN GROVEDALE, GEELONG
AUTHORISED LICENCED VEHICLE TESTER
Under the Bus Safety Act 2009 (Vic) bus safety inspections are a legal requirement for accredited and registered operators. Each bus in an operator's fleet must undergo an annual inspection.
A annual bus inspection can only be issued by a licensed vehicle tester (LVT).
The bus inspection is a check of the bus to ensure that key components have not worn or deteriorated and that it is safe for normal road use. An Inspection mainly covers items including:
-
Wheels and tyres
-
Steering, suspension and braking systems
-
Seats and seat belts
-
Lamps and reflectors
-
Windscreen and windows
-
Wipers and washers
-
The structure of the bus itself, and
-
Other safety related items on the body, chassis and engine
After an inspection, the licensed vehicle tester will issue a roadworthy certificate or test report listing the defective areas of the bus.
If issued with a test report, a follow-up inspection is not required.
For purposes of the Bus Safety Act the certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Currently we are only able to test light buses. A light bus is a vehicle with 10 or more seats including the driver and up to (and including) 5 tonne (GVM).
