ROADWORTHY INSPECTIONS    IN GROVEDALE, GEELONG

AUTHORISED LICENCED VEHICLE TESTER

If you want to buy, sell or re-register an unregistered vehicle, you will need to obtain a Victorian roadworthy certificate.

A roadworthy certificate can only be issued by a licensed vehicle tester.

What's involved:

  1. Make a appointment to conduct your 1st roadworthy inspection. If your vehicle fails the 1st inspection, you will have 14 days to have any defects rectified. You may arrange for the works to be completed yourself, or we can arrange to repair the defects for you

  2. Make a second appointment to arrange repairs to your vehicle (if required). Please note: another complete roadworthy will be required if the 14 days has lapsed since your first inspection. Another roadworthy fee will be required

  3. Once the defects have been rectified (if any) a certificate of roadworthiness will be issued. This certificate is valid for 30 days

In some cases you may be required to make a VicRoads appointment  - see Vehicle registration appointment : VicRoads for more information. We strongly suggest NOT making a VicRoads appointment until you have successfully obtained the certificate of roadworthiness.

We will not be responsible for lost appointments due to parts and/or booking availabilities.

What's checked:

The roadworthy inspection is a check of the vehicle to make sure that key components are in a good enough condition for safe highway use. It includes, but not limited to:

  • wheels and tyres

  • steering, suspension and braking systems

  • seats and seatbelts

  • lights and reflectors

  • windscreen and windows

  • vehicle structure

  • other safety related items as per VicRoads standards.

What is not checked

  • the overall condition of the vehicle such as wear and tear or deterioration

  • non-safety related items such as air conditioner, rear window demister, electric windows and rear wiper blades

  • the vehicle complies with all Australian Design Rules (ADR's)

The items checked during the roadworthy inspection may not continue to function after an inspection (e.g. a headlight globe can stop functioning at any time).
